Halo reach rips off nintendo

Last night while playing Halo Reach sp. I couldn't help but notice Bungi ripping off Nintendo, rather then creating there own suit interface.

Did anyone else notice this while playing the game?
Is this supposed to be an Easter egg of sorts?
